how as I said I never actually played the games yet but all this knowledge you are seeing here is from my research on the games, well knowing you you probably already knew most of this stuff but oh well XD Ordos ironic didn't use normal light infantry in Emperor like they did in Dune 2 and Dune 2000, instead they used Chemical Troopers (Guys with a short ranged poison gas projector) and they also used AA Troopers, Mortar Infantrymen and Saboteurs (Basically suicide boomers), as for the Sardaukar they were a sub faction in the games (Along with the Fremen) and they were superior to the infantry of the three houses (obviously), in Dune they They have superior firepower and armor and carried weapons that were effective against infantry and vehicles, in Emperor their were two types of Sardaukar, the normal Sardaukar that carried machine guns that were effective against all types of enemies and Sardaukar Elites that carried a one handed rapid fire laser and a vicious knife that they use to kill opponents in hand-to-hand fighting. Harkonnen had Light infantry with ight machine gun as well as Troops with rocket launchers and infantry with Flamethrowers. And yes in the three Westwood Dune games the three main houses (Atreides, Harkonnen & Ordos) they had normal units with normal guns and units with miniguns and rocket launchers, in Emperor: Battle for Dune the Atreides had Light Infantry and Snipers and mortar cannon guys. Well I still think they can still fight them by aiming for their weak spots but it's going to be tougher. Why have them when a Guardsmen with a Lasgun can cause more damage, be far more effective against all manner of enemy and a far, far, far cheaper cost? (That said, one corrupted Guardsmen in the middle of a Hive City with a lasgun is a terrifying idea). Yep, Space Marines would no longer exist.

rocket launchers and miniguns in the game?) I would place it as slightly (not hugely weaker, just slightly) weaker then an Imperial Lasgun or Star Wars military grade Blaster.
